Sahuarita man struck by lightning

A Sahuarita man suffered non-life threatening injuries Friday when he was struck by lightning.

Green Valley Fire District spokesman L.T. Pratt said the 42-year-old man was digging a hole to divert water when lightning struck his home at the peak above his garage, traveled down and came up through the ground 20 feet away and into his foot.

The man, who lives in the 900 block of East Bottomlands in Madera Highlands, was taken to Banner University Medical Center with bruising from his right foot to his abdomen, Pratt said.

There was minor damage to the house, blowing stucco off the peak of the home, he said.
