The Green Valley Fire District doesn’t just rescue humans.
On Sunday around 1 p.m., Mia the cat got stuck behind a hot water heater in her owner’s home in the 200 block of North Calle Del Santo.
GVFD spokesman L.T. Pratt said cat treats didn’t work, nor were firefighters able to lift her out. After getting permission from Mia’s owner, Engineer Austin Roush cut a hole into a side panel while Firefighter Amanda Tucker held Mia and tried to keep her calm.
While probably traumatized a bit, Pratt said Mia wasn’t hurt during the event.
