Man dies as deer hits motorcycle

A 70-year-old visitor from Idaho died Friday morning when he struck a deer while riding his motorcycle on the road into Madera Canyon.

Green Valley Fire District Operations Chief Joey Kosiorowski said the man was traveling with another motorcyclist when he hit the deer at milepost 10, which is in the area of Proctor Trail.

The man’s motorcycle ended up just off the side of the road and several evidence tags were set across the road during the investigation.

The deer was gone when emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly before 11 a.m., he said.
