Just in Time!

I would like first to thank the Green Valley News for the article written about the nurse practitioner program sponsored by the Green Valley Fire District (“House call,” Page A1, March 12). I never would have imagined that I would need this service just two days later.

I was sick with high fever, and I was not looking forward to having to wait in a clinic or at the Green Valley Hospital emergency room.

I then remembered the nurse practitioner program. I called the dispatcher, who took my request. Within hours, Adrianne O’Brien rang my door bell. She was such a blessing. Her professional approach was on target. I did not feel rushed or that I was taking up too much of her time. Her visit lasted longer than I have experienced with primary care physicians. After her assessment, nurse O’Brien was able to prescribe the necessary meds.

Two days later, my fever was still not normal, so all I had to do was reach her by phone and she called in the additional medicine.

I do believe this is the best service that has been offered to our community. I am one grateful patient.
