The Green Valley Fire District has sent personnel and equipment to tackle a wildfire near Sonoita and another in New Mexico.
Three firefighters and a fire engine have been dispatched to help combat the Encino Fire, which grew from 300 acres to 1,300 between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Firefighters will try and contain the fire today, though exceptionally hot weather and low humidity with play a role in how successful those efforts will be, the GVFD said.
Another two firefighters and a 3,000-gallon water tender have been sent to help with the 6,400-acre Bonita Fire near Cañon Plaza, New Mexico. They are supporting line operations by supplying water to the crews working on engaging the fire.
