The Green Valley Fire District is accepting applications to replace Bruce Howell, who has moved.
The five-member board is responsible for financial oversight and establishment of an annual budget, development and modification of policies and procedures, monthly public meetings to conduct fire district business, support of strategic planning for the district and the hiring of the fire chief.
Board members serve four year terms and Howell’s replacement would need to run for re-election in 2020.
Candidates need not have experience in the fire service, but would ideally be a year-round, community-minded resident with business experience, said Mikel Shilling, board chairwoman.
“This is not a ceremonial job or a one-day-a-month job,” she said. “They should have time on their hands and be open and willing to engage in discussions.”
Those interested can send or drop off their letter of interest and/or resume at the Green Valley Fire District’s Headquarters, 1285 W. Camino Encanto, Green Valley, AZ. 85622. Or Email it to Shilling at mshilling@gvfire.org. The Deadline is Jan. 10, 2017.
Board members will interview candidates and make a selection, Shilling said. For further information, contact Shilling at 648-6429.
