Car strikes hydrant, floods street

The street of a Green Valley neighborhood was flooded after a car struck a fire hydrant Friday morning.

The Green Valley Fire District responded to the area of Rio Altar and San Ignacio around 11:30 p.m. after the sedan struck the hydrant, causing water to pour out onto the street before Community Water Company was able to shut it off.

The driver of the car was not injured, GVFD said. Fire district personnel stayed on scene to help a local resident sweep water out of their garage and gather up landscape rocks the water had displaced.
