Residential Lock Boxes
Residential key boxes are designed to be a secure method of allowing District firefighters to access to your home via a key box, when you can not open your own door or in the event of a critical emergency at your residence when you not at home.
Key boxes are extremely strong and are only used by the GVFD firefighters. Your home keys are secured inside the box and accessed via a special encoded key that is carried on the fire apparatus.
Key boxes are manufactured and sold by Supre GE. This is the same company that serves the real estate industry. All costs with the exception of the installation fee, go directly to Supra.
Your lock box information is kept in our dispatch center computers which alerts responding crews that you have a lock box. A red sticker is also attached to your front door area to verify that a lock box is present.
